Premium GL: The Dance of Leadership 2019 (John Peachey)

New for 2019!

How do we retain people, stimulate personal growth, derive loyalty, mentor and grow healthy generations of up coming leaders?

This programme will enhance your leadership outcomes and help to support and strengthen your individual goals and leadership practice. The format is a combination of live video coaching by Zoom Video Collaboration, Self Reflection Exercises, Video Content, Group Discussion, One on One Mentoring and Cafe Meetings (where possible). Delivered as a monthly one hour live group session plus a monthly 30 minute one on one mentoring session by live video. All supporting presentation material and worksheets are delivered in PDF format for each of the eight monthly sessions. Time required to complete each monthly topic is a maximum of 8 hours.

The church faces an on going succession issue which requires us to mentor and grow the types of leaders who can lead robustly, maintain integrity and care for the hearts of the people God has entrusted into our care. No one enters leadership with the intent to hurt people or to damage communities. However, it happens. We must therefore learn to adopt models of leadership that sustain people through the ever changing and challenging cultures we find ourselves scattered among.

  • The four functions of management: planning, organising, staffing and HR, and evaluating.
  • Leading a staff team that honours God.

Calvin's Institutes Reading Group 2019 (Myk Habets)

Dr Myk's Reading Group for 2019!

This option with Dr Myk Habets offers an eight-month long reading group in which you will work through some of Calvin's Institutes.

John Calvin (1509-1564) was a French Protestant refugee who fled to Geneva (Switzerland) for safety and after some convincing stayed on in the city for most of his life as the Reformed pastor. He wrote the Institutes to provide a way to read the Bible with insight and wisdom: it was never intended as a systematic theology or a one-stop shop of dogma.

As we work through the Institutes I trust you will see, hear, and feel what countless others have as they have read the work: a wild love for God, a passion for God’s triune work in the world, a vision for what God has in store for those who love them, and the relentless pursuit of God’s gracious will.

Good Governance (Martyn Norrie)

New for 2019!

  • Are you aware of the compliance obligations of the Church or charity that you are involved with?
  • Is your Church or charity complying with these?
  • How could organisational performance be improved by an increased focus on strategic planning?
  • Is the organisation exposed to risk by the employment practices that are being followed?
  • Are you confident that you are receiving the financial reports that you need to govern your Church or charity effectively?
  • How does Occupational Safety and Health feature in your Board discussions and thinking?
  • Does your Board include the diversity of skills and representation that will ensure effective governance in the future?
  • Do you have a succession plan for members of your Board?
  • How could you improve your interaction around the Board table and the outcomes that are achieved?
  • How will your organisation respond to the challenges of operating in a multi-national environment?

So many questions that you should be able to answer if you desire to be effective in governing a Church or Not for Profit organisation.

In this Guided Learning option, through the pages of my new book “Good Governance Is Worth The Effort: A Handbook for Christian Charities and Churches in Aotearoa” (to be published early 2019), I attempt to address these issues and many more, as well as journey with you as part of this Guided Learning cohort as you engage and reflect on the course content and your own ministry context.

Spiritual Disciplines 2019 (Jeff Whittaker)

New for 2019!

This Spiritual Disciplines Guided Learning option features a new discipline for exploration each month over the eight-month period. Each discipline is introduced with approximately an hour of content. • Centering prayer
  • Fasting
  • Care of the earth
  • Bible memorisation
  • Spiritual direction
