Good Governance (Martyn Norrie)

Good Governance (Martyn Norrie)

New for 2019!

  • Are you aware of the compliance obligations of the Church or charity that you are involved with?
  • Is your Church or charity complying with these?
  • How could organisational performance be improved by an increased focus on strategic planning?
  • Is the organisation exposed to risk by the employment practices that are being followed?
  • Are you confident that you are receiving the financial reports that you need to govern your Church or charity effectively?
  • How does Occupational Safety and Health feature in your Board discussions and thinking?
  • Does your Board include the diversity of skills and representation that will ensure effective governance in the future?
  • Do you have a succession plan for members of your Board?
  • How could you improve your interaction around the Board table and the outcomes that are achieved?
  • How will your organisation respond to the challenges of operating in a multi-national environment?

So many questions that you should be able to answer if you desire to be effective in governing a Church or Not for Profit organisation.

In this Guided Learning option, through the pages of my new book “Good Governance Is Worth The Effort: A Handbook for Christian Charities and Churches in Aotearoa” (to be published early 2019), I attempt to address these issues and many more, as well as journey with you as part of this Guided Learning cohort as you engage and reflect on the course content and your own ministry context.

Martyn Norrie bio

I have also been involved, for over 40 years, serving on and leading Boards of Churches, Christian Not for Profit Organisations and Community Groups.” Martyn is a member of Windsor Park Baptist Church, in Auckland, and has taught leadership courses at Carey Baptist College.
